Installing Django on Ubuntu

This applies to Server 10.10 with Python 2.6 and mod-wsgi

Checked version of Python was 2.6 using

python --version

The followed the instructions on the download site

tar xzvf Django-1.2.3.tar.gz

cd Django-1.2.3

sudo python setup.py install

Note: It seems to place the files into:

/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/

Then you need to add the mod_wsgi package

sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-wsgi

Needed to install the MySQDB module

apt-get install python-mysqldb
