KS5 Lead for Computing and ICT (2012 – 2014)

Returning to my own secondary school was a big decision but the opportunity to relaunch a department at a time when all the previous staff had left was too exciting to turn down. No longer forced to teach the national strategy and an all new focus on computing meant there was lots of scope to develop exciting schemes of learning.

The structure of the curriculum means that we have a number of computing classes from Yr8 through to Yr13. The students are incredibly enthusiastic and we are exploring topics such as Python, Kodu, Raspberry Pi, Android Phone Development and Java Games development.

Since joining the school I have been trained in TEEP and now use this in all my lessons to ensure that they are exciting and that all students can engage and make progress during my lessons. I have also supported an NQT member of staff to successfully complete their first year.’
