Caves Saint-Pierre Côtes du Rhône Villages 2010

Caves Saint-Pierre 2010

So this weekends exciting wine purchase was this bottle of Caves Saint-Pierre from Tesco priced £8.99. What made drove me to this bottle was I had heard good things about 2010 Rhone from the WS recommendations – interestingly the 2011 bottle was also on the shelf at £2 less. I now think I should have bought both to do a taste compare!

Anyway with a mix of CarignanGrenache and Syrah it had a nice aromatic start with a really strong and slightly spicy palate.  The finish was long and if my terminology is correct full of tannin.

Would I buy this again?  Yes – without doubt and I’ll be making a beeline for the 2011 next week so I can complete a taste compare.

  1. I have a bottle of this, a present, 2008, and it is gorgeous, drinking it now. velvety, smooth, fruit, blk cherries but not your usual fruity sweetness. This wine I would have put more expensive than I think they recommend. Have a go, try it, you won’t be disappointed, I wasn’t ! Ps I normally go for Spanish red, but I may be converted.
